President’s Message
Welcome to the Chamber Connection, your desktop reference for the goods and services available right
here in Sherwood Park and Strathcona County At the back of
the book, there is a 2012 calendar to help you start planning
for next year’s events The Connection also contains a
quick reference section at the back for you to write in the
numbers and addresses of those businesses that you contact
frequently
The Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce is where local businesses Meet,
Learn, and Speak
The Chamber’s many activities include:
• Facilitating networking and building relationships among Chamber
members that lead to new business opportunities and increased sales,
• Education and learning opportunities about topics that are timely and
relevant to business owners and key staff, and
• Speaking as a strong voice on business issues to advocate for change
in a positive but forthright manner at the local, regional, provincial, and
federal levels in concert with the Alberta Chambers of Commerce and the
Canadian Chamber of Commerce
• The affordable programs we carry for Chamber members such as health
care and the visa card program
Businesses create wealth and jobs in our community and provide 60% of the municipal
tax revenue to pay for services such as police and fire protection, parks and recreation,
road repairs and snow removal In the current economy, some of our business members
face issues regarding access to credit to use for daily operations and expansion, and yet
continue to provide the outstanding level of service that we have all come to rely on
It is the investment of our membership that allows the Chamber to continue to
strengthen both in numbers and in influence The Chamber membership provides a
tremendous number of volunteer hours throughout the year; dedicating both time
and sponsorship to our numerous events I thank each and every one of you for your
continued support
